Issued during the presidency of Florvil Hyppolite, this handsome 20 Centimes was struck at the Paris Mint for the Republic of Haiti. The obverse depicts the Haitian coat of arms with palm tree, flags, cannons and liberty cap, symbolising independence following the successful Haitian Revolution. These nineteenth-century silver issues are admired for both their attractive designs and historical significance.
