These replicas produced by the Mail Coach Medallion Company, recreate the Holey Dollar (5 Shillings) and the corresponding Dump (15 Pence) to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (1952–1977). Paper insert not included.
While the original Holey Dollar and Dump are from 1813, this specific set uses that iconic Australian design to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Queen's accession.
Holey Dollar Replica: Features the text "NEW SOUTH WALES" and the jubilee dates "1952-1977" on the obverse. It is approximately 38mm–40mm in diameter.
Dump Replica: Features a crown in the centre on the obverse and the denomination "FIFTEEN PENCE" on the reverse. It is approximately 20mm in diameter.
Packaging: presentation case
Unlike the 2013 bicentenary replicas, these 1977 versions were part of a wave of commemorative items released during the Queen's Silver Jubilee Visit to Australia. The choice of the Holey Dollar design was a nod to Australia's unique colonial currency history, repurposed for the royal milestone.
These sets are considered numismatic collectibles rather than legal tender and are highly sought after by collectors interested in Australian colonial history.
