The 2019 $2 "100 Years of Repatriation" coin is special because it commemorates the centenary of the Australian Repatriation Department (now the Department of Veterans' Affairs), which was established in 1919 to support servicemen and nurses returning from World War I.

Symbolic Design: The reverse features a coloured central design inspired by the First World War "Returned from Active Service" badge.

Red Petals: Represent the Flanders Field poppy, a symbol of remembrance, with each of the eight petals representing Australia's six states and two territories.

Black Arrows: Inspired by the "Rising Sun" badge, symbolising the journey home for veterans.
