Item Description:

On 1 July 1925, in a converted wool store in Geelong, Victoria, the first Australian-built Ford vehicle rolled off the assembly line: a Model T. This car represented the beginning of the North American company’s century-long presence in Australia.
The best-known Ford in Australia is the Falcon, with more than 3.5 million vehicles produced between 1960 and 2016. Originally based on an American design, over the decades it was increasingly adapted to Australian conditions. Pictured in this series are the Model T; the XP Falcon, produced in 1965–66; the XA Falcon, the first fully Australian-designed Falcon when launched in 1972; and the FG-X XR8 Falcon, which represented the final roar of locally manufactured V8 Ford cars in 2016. Ford manufacturing in Australia ended in 2016. Today Ford Australia leads the global design and development of the Ranger and Everest, and imports vehicles for Australian customers.
