Item Description:

Issued alongside the Proclamation Shilling, this attractive silver Sixpence formed part of George III's 1787 recoinage. The elegant reverse displays the cruciform arrangement of crowned shields surrounding the Order of the Garter Star, making it one of the most recognisable British silver designs. These coins were introduced to replace heavily worn circulating silver and remain a favourite among Georgian coin collectors.
