Item Description:

Australian women’s auxiliary services were formed in 1941, overturning assumptions about women’s roles in wartime. These services were the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF), Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) and Australian Women’s Army Service (AWAS).

This striking coloured 20c coin commemorates the 85th anniversary of the establishment of Australian women’s services. The colour print is inspired by the uniform of the WAAAF, the first and largest of the services.
