1990 5 Dollar Proof ANZAC 75th Anniversary Gallipoli Veteran Presentation Set

These sets were presented in 1990 to the surviving 3,061 veterans of WWI.
This is one of the most exclusive and tightly-held numismatic products ever issued by the Royal Australian Mint. The coins included in it have the same characteristics as the regular set issued in the same year, but the packaging is completely exclusive.
You can be forgiven for thinking that the mintage figure for this set is fairly high relative to some of the products Australia's mints issue these days, but the reality is they are very seldom seen on the open collector market. The only way they leave the families of the veterans they were issued to is when they no longer have a sentimental value to the generations that followed, which means they are not offered very often at all.
In fact, this is the first of these sets we've ever handled!
We understand from the vendor that this set was a very proud possession of the previous owner, the appearance of the case suggests that it was shown and handled reasonably regularly.
Importantly, the coins; certificate and presentation letter from the PM at the time (Robert James Lee Hawke) are all included and remain in excellent condition.
This set offers incredible value relative to most of the products being issued today and will be a real treasure for someone working on a comprehensive collection of proof coins issued by the Royal Australian Mint.
